Risk Management
Description
If you are taking the Project Management Certificate Program, you will be aware that project managers devote significant attention and resources to risk management. The basis for the course is:
- A risk is any factor that could change the desired project outcome
- Every technical and business activity has a risk component
- So risk has to be recognized, quantified and managed
- The best solutions make the risks and the process for their containment visible to all stakeholders.
To reduce this cycle of reasoning to practical measures, the course is built around two major features:
- How project management interacts with technical decision-making
- Developing a template that can be used to systematically quantify, communicate and manage most risk opportunities.
It is a very practical “how to” course that has evolved through many interactions with project leaders in the participating JACMET companies. Although the scope of project activities is wide, the essentials of risk management are common and the key skills are an important competency for business success.
No previous Project Management Certificate Program content is assumed so the course can also be taken as a stand-alone course by engineers who would like to manage their exposure to risk in technical decision-making and project execution.
Intended Audience
- Project managers and project team members as well as area managers
